I began training remotely with Andrew July 2018. I became interested in the sport of weightlifting and had a desire to compete in the sport.
As a personal trainer and fitness professional myself I have high standards on who I want to invest in as a coach. After speaking with Andrew and understanding his extensive experience with coaching other athletes to not only compete but compete successfully for several athletes I decided to try him out.
After meeting him in person it was very obvious to me that he was professional, process oriented and caring. These are three qualities I hold to a high standard as a coach myself and I knew he would be an amazing coach for me.
As a remote athlete Andrew does a great job at keeping my programming up to date based on my needs, I record my main lifts and using technology andrew provides feedback for filmed lifts. When I have the opportunity for 1:1 sessions the focus is always on areas of opportunity to continue to develop my skills. His feedback is always clear, direct and has a side of humour.
Although I can often be an impatient athlete with myself Andrew’s coaching reminds me to be patient and trust the process for the outcome I desire in the long term. Having a coach who cares and who has such a strong moral compass is truly a gift.
I have been training with Andrew four times a week over the past year. When I started working with him, I had been training at a gym for two years and was looking for a change. In particular, I wanted to improve specific skills (gymnastics, oly lifting) and needed one-to-one coaching and individualized programming. Training with Andrew has resulted in some major personal bests. For example, I got my first strict muscle-up and a whole bunch of kipping muscle ups in a workout during the CrossFit Open last year. My Olympic lifts have improved quite a bit too.
What impresses me about Andrew as a trainer is his combination of enthusiasm for helping me meet my goals, his knowledge of how to get there, and his easy-going interpersonal style. He is also flexible in working around any injuries or issues I have, all while being relentless in working towards my goals. I have a lot of fun working with Andrew and this is important to me because as a working mom, my workout time is also my play time.
Working as an RMT for 10 years has taken a physical toll on my body, but since working with Andrew, I am stronger and pain free (except after squats…deadlifts…chin ups…Ok, maybe not pain free but definitely stronger!!!) Over the past year of training, Andrew has provided highly personalized, quality coaching that has been instrumental in obtaining my specific fitness goals. His programming and attention to detail keeps challenging workouts safe and injury free. Not only do I trust my own goals in Andrew’s hands but feel 100% confident in referring my clients to his care to help meet their fitness goals. Without a doubt Andrew is an incredibly knowledgeable trainer and fantastic coach!
